Biography

Appointed Assistant Conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra 2022/23, and having won the Orchestra’s Prize award at the 16th Mitropoulos Conducting Competition, Konstantinos has been based in the United Kingdom since 2019 and he excels in symphonic, operatic and contemporary repertoire.

 

He completed his Bachelor’s degree at the Ionian University with Miltos Logiadis and his Master's of Music in orchestral conducting with Martyn Brabbins, Garry Walker and Alasdair Mitchell, having been awarded a full scholarship by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Hugh S. Roberton Prize for Orchestral Conducting. Alongside his studies, he has expanded his training in Ballet conducting with Richard Honner.

 

Over the last couple of seasons he debuted with Ergon Ensemble, the Athens Epidaurus Festival in collaboration with the Greek Composer's Union and the Greek National Opera. He was selected conductor at the Klangspuren Schwaz Festival 2021 under the International Ensemble Modern Academy where he assisted Johannes Kalitzke.

In 2022 he was Conducting Fellow at the Lucerne  Festival Academy, which included a masterclass with Thomas Adés and coaching from Jonathan Stockhammer.

​He has been selected semi-finalist ofthe  Siemens Hallé International Conductors Competition in Manchester and finalist of the  Donatella Flick Conducting Competition where he conducted the London Symphony Orchestra.

In 2024 he won the audition of the Athens State Symphony Orchestra for Guest Conducting over next seasons, and the Orchestra's Award at the 16th Mitropoulos Conducting Competition with an invitation to debut with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra.


In 2023/24 season he returned to the Greek National Opera to debut with the Ballet conducting Delibe's Coppèlia and Shchedrin’s Carmen. He conducted the premiere of Rossini's opera La Cenerentola at Olympia Theatre and he returned to the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and the City of Athens SO.

 

This season he will be debuting with the Athens State Symphony Orchestra, the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, the Megaron Concert Hall and the Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra.

He will also be returning to Ergon Ensemble premiering contemporary works of Cypriot composers, to the Greek National Opera to conduct Puccini's La Boheme, and to Olympia theater to conduct L.v. Beethoven's opera Fidelio, alongside his further conducting engagements.

 

Collaborations include the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, the Dresdner Sinfoniker, the Greek National Opera, the Athens Epidaurus Festival, the City of Athens Symphony Orchestra, Ergon Ensemble, the Greek Composer's Union and TETTTIX.
